Road map to 2005 Gods & Monsters
Okay, so I’m not at GenCon today. No free t-shirt yet, sorry. Instead I’m sitting here in my apartment reading about the Vikings and about swashbucklers, and outlining what needs to be done before the 2005 edition of Gods & Monsters goes to press.
- A new and unique pantheon for the Haikiutl (in Highland, a society across the Great Mountains to the west), for the Divine Lore book.
- A decision on whether or not to include Training Points in the main rules.
- Finalize the armor section in Arcane Lore.
- Finalize the changes to the skills listing in Arcane Lore.
There will of course also be a few new spells, new spirits, and new creatures at various intervals.
You can also look forward to seeing one more new adventure in 2005, a bit stranger than the others, “The Valley of the Blue Sun”, and, if I can get the fonts working right, a sourcebook for the world of Highland.
In the meantime, I recommend reading Lovecraft’s “The Dream Quest of Unknown Kadath” if you haven’t read it yet.
- Training points for abilities, skills, and weapons
- Advancing in skills, weapon familiarities, and ability scores might be combined and simplified using “training points”.
- Divine Lore
- Lists of divine spirits and gods.
- Arcane Lore
- Lists of spells, skills, psychic powers, and specialties.
- Gods & Monsters Rules
- All rules on creating characters and playing the game. This is what you’ll be using most as both player and adventure guide.
- The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath•
- This collection contains the title piece as well as Celephaïs, The Silver Key, Through the Gates of the Silver Key, The White Ship, and The Strange High House in the Mist. These are some of the more interesting of Lovecraft’s dream pieces.
